Terms of Service
CatRec – Screen Recorder · Last updated: October 14, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and ibbie ("we", "us"), the publisher of CatRec – Screen Recorder (the "App"). By installing or using the App you accept them. If you don't, please uninstall the App.
1. What the App does
CatRec records your Android screen, with internal audio and your microphone where your device allows it. It also keeps the last few minutes in a rolling buffer (Clipper), takes screenshots, and adds floating controls, on-screen drawing, a face cam and a watermark. It can trim, merge and convert your clips to GIFs. Features depend on your device, Android version and manufacturer; some apps block screen or audio capture, and the App can't get around that.
The optional CatRec game mic helper uses Android's accessibility service only to keep your microphone recording while a game or chat app also uses it. It is not needed for ordinary recording and you can turn it off at any time. See the Privacy Policy and Permissions page for exactly what it can and can't do.
2. Your recordings and the law
You own what you record, and you are responsible for it. Use the App only lawfully. In particular, don't use it to:
- record people, calls, meetings or private conversations without the consent the law requires where you are,
- copy or share content that infringes someone else's copyright or other rights,
- get around DRM or other copy protection,
- record or share illegal content.
Live streaming. When you go live, your screen and the sound you choose are sent to the streaming service you pick (YouTube, Twitch, Kick, Facebook or another RTMP server you enter). What you stream is your responsibility, and that service's own rules (for example YouTube's Community Guidelines, Twitch's Community Guidelines, or the terms of the service you use) apply to it. CatRec isn't affiliated with these services. In the free version, an ad is shown before each live stream, and streams are limited to 720p at 30 frames per second; CatRec Pro adds higher quality, overlays and saving a copy.
3. Free version, Pro features and ads
The App is free and shows Google ads. Some options are Pro features, including:
- 90 and 120 frames per second,
- video bitrates above 16 Mbps,
- 2K and 4K recording above your screen's own resolution (recording at your screen's own resolution is always free),
- separate microphone tracks, the face cam and the watermark.
You can unlock Pro for a limited time by watching a reward video, or get CatRec Pro, which unlocks every Pro feature and removes all ads, as a subscription or as a one-time lifetime purchase. Which features are Pro, and how long a reward unlock lasts, may change in updates. If a reward video can't be loaded, the App may let you use a Pro feature once without one.
4. Purchases
Purchases are processed by Google Play under Google Play's terms. Prices are shown in the App in your local currency, as Google Play sets them, before you buy.
- CatRec Pro subscription (monthly or yearly). It renews automatically at the price shown, at the end of each period, until you cancel. You can cancel any time in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions (or from Support → Manage subscription in the App); cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid being charged for the next period. After you cancel, Pro stays on until the end of the period you already paid for.
- Free trial. Some plans may offer a free trial (for example 3 days) to people who haven't had one. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, the subscription starts and you are charged automatically. Google Play decides who is eligible.
- Payment problems. If a renewal payment fails, Google Play may give you a grace period during which Pro keeps working, and then put the subscription on hold. Pro is paused while it is on hold and comes back once the payment is fixed.
- CatRec Pro lifetime is a one-time purchase with no renewal.
- Remove Ads, our earlier one-time purchase, is no longer sold. If you bought it, you keep everything it gave you — no ads and every Pro feature — for as long as the App is available.
Refunds follow Google Play's refund policy and the law where you live. Purchases stay with the Google account you bought them with, and the App restores them when you reinstall (Support → Restore purchases).
5. Licence
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the App on Android devices you own or control. The App's code, design, name and logo belong to us. Don't copy, modify, resell or reverse-engineer the App, except where the law allows it.
6. No warranty
The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We work hard on reliability, but we can't promise that every recording will succeed or that the App will work on every device. Recording quality, internal audio and background recording depend on your device, Android version and other apps. Keep copies of anything important.
7. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost recordings, data or profits, arising from your use of or inability to use the App. Our total liability for any claim about the App is limited to what you paid us for it in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be waived.
8. Privacy
The Privacy Policy and Permissions page explain how the App handles your information. They form part of these terms.
9. Changes and ending
We may update the App or these terms; when we change the terms, we'll update the date at the top. Continuing to use the App after a change means you accept it. You can stop at any time by uninstalling the App. We may stop offering the App, but we won't take away a feature you paid for while the App remains available. Sections 6 and 7 survive if these terms end.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the place where we are established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in its courts.
